Russia carried out 33 airstrikes Wednesday on militant positions in Syria's northern province of Aleppo near the Turkish border.
The strikes targeted rebels in the border town of Azaz near Turkey. Guided missiles were used during the operation. Syrian and Russian rocket launchers also fired on militant positions near the Turkish border.
The intensified strikes came a day after the Turkish air force shot down a Russian fighter jet.
