Professor Jan Walls is a Western guy with deep interest in Chinese culture. Growing up in Indiana USA, he chose to major in Chinese and minor in Japanese with the intention to understand himself from a different cultural perspective. After graduating with a PhD, he accepted a job in Canada, and later went to China on a diplomatic trip.  All his life, he is enticed by the "inscrutable Orient", and eventually becomes a master of Chinese culture. In today's North America society where Chinese culture is increasingly influencing the mainstream, professor Walls shares his experience and know-how on how to study Chinese culture.
